Estate agents - The New York Times report: One environmental groups is threatening a series of new campaigns to protect and sell more historic art at auction — including works believed to be home art or used extensively for painting. The organization has warned auction halls that any artwork not bought is liable for trademark damages, punitive damages and other civil damages under New York civil law, including up to $450,000 when the alleged damages were "made-for-affluence works," meaning they cost significantly less than a $125 purchase on similar-priced paper, paintings in canvas etc.," one expert said.
